Vacation art

Want to see the spontaneous art I did with my brother during family vacation on an island in the north see?
We had some time, while his and my kids played in the (for me) very very cold water. My brother and I had a nice catch-up and besides we collected the sea shells around and started a picture.
First it was a tree ...
Then it became a fish ...
A second fish arrived  and some sea grass and corals ...
I know the frame isn't straight!
I made a little wall around, mainly to protect it from our children who came shivering out of the water and running towards us to get dry cloth!
I guess till now the see got the sea shell fishes back. And that's okay. I keep the memories of a perfect hour in the sun at the beach with a brother whom I don't see very often on an island we love since our childhood!

Knitted bunnies

These adorable bunnies I already made end of February.
I wanted to make some more for Easter, but there had been so much going on, that until now I didn't managed and I am not sure I will. But if you want to make some have a look at pinterest, where I found this very easy instruction and it's even for untalented knitters (like me) possible to make them. Actually I knitted the squares that you'll need during a 3h car drive.
I used different wool, so every bunny turned out very different too.
Number one is my favorite, except he had a little sad mouth, but the cutest twisted ears of all!

The other two are quite fuzzy.
The white one is the favorite of our cat. She catched it from the couch table and cuddled it :-)

Stamping pattern

Since a while already I wanted to create stamps that create pattern and not only single motif stamps. Finally I started and designed and carved a stamp. It is about 5x5cm.

This are the first test prints with an ordinary stamp pad.

Later I tried with acrylic paint. As stamping a bigger surface uses much paint, the acrylic paint is cheeper ;-)
Lots of fun to mix the colors.

With those prints I don't know jet what to do, but I decorated one paper, measured exactly to fit around an empty container.
The pattern fits exactly the circumference of the can. Can you see on the first photo the line where the paper ends met?

I am very happy with my stamp, only it covers a lot of surface. Initially I was thinking about a pattern, that I can stamp over an already colored background, for example water colored paper, so that the colors are shining through the print. I want print and background in balance! But doesn't matter, I will make mores stamps and show them to you :-)

4th water-color-card-post

I have to show again some cards I made with water-color elements. This time I have been with a friend. She wanted to create a condolence card. Not a very fun subject, but in a creative way the evening had been a good possibility to try something that is not in my ordinary color scheme.
You will ask "??? She is always drawing in black and white!"
True, but when I use colors, it is very hard for me to not add warm colors or bright contrasts.
As I always do we started coloring some backgrounds. Already that was difficult. When I am in need of a condolence card I normally make them in relation to the deceased and his family and then I know how much and which colors are appropriate. I never showed those cards here as they are very personal.

My friend liked the mini-mountain-sunset card I showed in my first water-color-post and so we first made one like that only a bit bigger. As there had been a little bit of red in it, it wasn't as hard for me to paint.
But then I tried to stay with sombre colors and stuck quickly with inspirations. I made one in blue a little bit like one of the birthday cards that I think is ok:
And in the end of the evening after some struggling I managed to do one that is (if we are talking in school terms) fulfilling the demanded subject and on top of it I like it.
Only three cards came out from 2,5h of crafting and talking. And of course lots of scraps I didn't used.
I had been in need of a birthday card for a new born boy in the neighborhood and made this:
Some of the colorful balloon circles have been lying around with the unused scraps and suddenly I saw some more cards:

The week after my friend and me meet again and made some more cards, this time without a theme. I tried out my new color pencils to not always draw in black..

And last I glued a piece of testing paper on a little card. It's maybe a page-marker.
That's it for the moment with water-color cards. I can't talk jet about my latest project, but I went back to acrylic paint ... will show the first something next week! Hope you pass by then! :-)
